Week of March 9th, 2020

Week of March 9th

Self Reflection:

Students will continue our strategy each week to self evaluate their performance by writing three things they did well and three things they need to improve.

Reading Informational Text

I Have A Dream Speech

Students have read multiple texts on Dr. King, Jr. I Have A Dream. Students also have analyzed figurative writing styles and the power of words.

Students will create their own introductory phrase and their wish for our community and create a wall hanging art project outside of our classroom.

After the break, students will also be reading multiple texts on an historic chapter of the Civil Rights Movement...Bloody Sunday and the March on Selma in the next few weeks.

Written Expression and Process

Students will also be assessed this week on the 3rd MNPS Benchmark Practice test over Persuasive/Opinion Essay writing. We will begin on Wed. Students will complete a reading of texts and a pre-writing phase, a writing phase, and a reflection activity.

Grammar and Conventions

Students will also be tested on subject and verb agreement on NO RED INK...quiz date to be determined this week.

Homework

EDMODO announced assignments each Monday through Thursday. EDMODO will be the place to find out what is assigned that particular day. We also use the on line program, NO RED INK...for practicing Grammar and Vocabulary.

Test Prep Practices

Students will complete a practice assessment (multiple choice & persuasive writing to a specific prompt).
