May 24th Last Week of School Year 2020-2021

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for allowing me the privilege of teaching your student this year.

We close out our school year with a personal reflection with the theme...
."What will you do with your life that will  make the world a better place and define you ?"

Ask your student about George Shuba, who taught us all about the power of one handshake.

Please watch a special News Channel 5 School Patrol Segment on Wed. 6 PM and 10 PM news May 26th. The segment will be re-broadcasted on Sat. May 29th.

April 19th to April 28th TN READY TESTING

ELA TN READY 2021 begins this Friday.

Students have learned the importance of following directions on successful essay writing. By now, students have had the opportunity to practice Narative, Informative, and Opinion essays. ELA TN READY will test them over one of these. First, students will be provided two or more short texts to read. Then students will read their directions to find out which essay they are to write, specifically to that prompt. Finally, students will begin the writing process by quickly planning their essay and then writing for the full amount of test time...usually....90 minutes.

The next parts of ELA will be multiple choice...

 Multiple Choice Strategies:

  • Read carefully...practice 5 magic words as you read..WRITE QUICKLY IN YOUR BOOKLET..
  • Read each question twice.
  • Is the question asking you for one answer choice or two or more answer choices?
  • THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE BEING ASKED!!!!!!
  • GO BACK IN THE TEXT AND LOOK FOR CLUES!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Use POE....eliminate wrong answers first, YOU CAN CROSS OUT WRONG ANSWERS IN YOUR BOOKLET.
  • DO NOT SKIP A QUESTION YOU CAN'T EASILY ANSWER.
  • USE POE AND EDUCATED GUESSING.
  • ANSWER BY CAREFULLY SHADING YOUR ONE ANSWER IN ON YOUR BUBBLE SHEET ON THE RIGHT NUMBER ANSWER SPOT.
  • MOVE ON TO NEXT QUESTION.
  • Be mindful of your time management. Not too quick but not spending too much time on one question.
  • Main Idea? Not always in the first sentence.....
  • THINK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • If you finish before time is up, go back and review your test answers. There will be no reading, sleeping, drawing, or disturbing others during test.
