Self Reflection:

Students will continue our strategy each week to self evaluate their performance by writing three things they did well and three things they need to improve.

Reading Informational Text

Students have begun our 2nd QRT Scope and Sequence Informational Text reading materials. This consists of inspirational readings of four historic figures who overcame immense challenges with dignity and courage. FREDERICK DOUGLAS and MAGGIE LENA WALKER are the next two character readings. We will also be selectively reading a biography on George Washington Carver and culminate with a collaborative STEAM class activity at the end of the quarter.

Students will analyze the essential questions of "Why do people make certain choices? What can we learn about individuals and groups based on the choices they make? How do influences in your life change your perspective?" Lesson objectives are: determing narrative voice, comparing and contrasting, determining author's purpose, identifying key details and evidence, and quoting accurately from a text.
