Weeks of January 7th & 13th

Self Reflection:

Students will continue our strategy each week to self evaluate their performance by writing three things they did well and three things they need to improve.

Reading Informational Text

"When you can do the common things in life in an uncommon way, you will command the attention of the world." George Washington Carver

Students will continue reading GEORGE WASHINGTON CARVER, a biography in class. This class set book will be used to implement imspiring STEAM lessons with multiple subjects and teachers before and after the winter break. Our teachers and myself are very excited about this collaborative STEAM lesson!!! More info to come.

Written Expression and Process

Students will be assessed on t
he George Washington Carver Unit with daily specific writing prompts, and also by planning and writing an informational essay.

Students will also complete a practice writing assessment on Persuasive Writing. We will use two texts inspired by our earlier IFL unit on the Rush to Oklahoma. Specifically, students will read and analyze pro and con positions on the securing and developing Native Indian Western Territories of the USA for settlement.

Grammar and Conventions

Students will be tested on articles and complex sentences on NO RED INK...date to be determined.

Homework

EDMODO announced assignments each Monday through Thursday. EDMODO will be the place to find out what is assigned that particular day. We also use the on line program, NO RED INK...for practicing Grammar and Vocabulary.
