Weeks of February 24th and March 2nd, 2020

Week of February 25th 


Self Reflection: 

Students will continue our strategy each week to self evaluate their performance by writing three things they did well and three things they need to improve. 
 

Reading Informational Text

The Girl Who Lived Forever & I Have A Dream Speech

Students are reading a short text on the life of Anne Frank and also a poem by a holocaust survivor. Both texts are found in our MNPS curriculum scope and sequence guide. A TNREADY type quiz will be administered on Tuesday.(COMPLETED)

Students will be reading multiple texts on Dr. King, Jr. I Have A Dream. Students will analyze figurative writing styles and the power of words, culminating with a wall hanging art project.

Students will also be reading multiple texts on an historic chapter of the Civil Rights Movement...Bloody Sunday and the March on Selma in the next few weeks.

Written Expression and Process

Students will also be assessed on t
his week's topics with daily specific writing prompts, and also by planning and writing an opinion and narrative essays.

Grammar and Conventions

Students will be tested on articles and subject and verb agreement on NO RED INK...quiz date to be determined.

Homework

EDMODO announced assignments each Monday through Thursday. EDMODO will be the place to find out what is assigned that particular day. We also use the on line program, NO RED INK...for practicing Grammar and Vocabulary.


Test Prep Practices

Students will complete a practice assessment (multiple choice & narrative writing to a specific prompt). Week of March 2nd... These practice tests will be administered bi-weekly.
