Week of August 31st - Sept 4th

ELA Objectives this week:

Students will write their first narrative for this year.

Last week, we reviewed and discussed our story from a week ago through a powerpoint, All Summer In A Day, by Ray Bradbury.

Students and parents will find daily directions and further information and activities in each day folders for the week of August 31st-Sept. 4th.

  • Students were asked to imagine they were writing the next chapter to the story right after the ending we read.
  • Margot has to forgive her bullies when the bullies ask to be forgiven for putting her in a closet and missing the sun.
  • Students were asked to brainstorm their own ideas in their ELA journals last week about what would happen first, next, and finally, as they write their story in 3rd person narrative voice...as if a narrator was watching from above and telling the story.
  • Students were asked to think in terms of creating a story...that they are narrating...think about the setting....where are the children? Think about dialogue...the children's conversation.
  • Beginning of their story......6-10 sentences....(upcoming schoology practice quiz)
  • Middle of their story.....6-10 sentences.(upcoming schoology practice quiz)
  • Ending of their story.....6-10 sentences. (upcoming schoology practice quiz)
  • Students were advised to write and type their rough draft in a Microsoft Word Document.
  • Students will eventually copy and paste their Microsoft Word Document final draft in their schoology quiz assignment later when it appears.
  • Each of your section...Beginning, Middle, and End of your narrative, will need to be in three separate paragraphs...6-10 sentences per each paragraph.
  • This assignment must be reviewed by parents/guardians and will be due in a future posted schoology assignment by Friday Sept 4th, 2020.
